Network & DC

A stable network is an integral pillar of any infrastructure and teleinformatics system.

About the service

A stable network is an essential pillar of every infrastructure and teleinformatics system.

In recent years, data center (DC) networks have seen a significant revolution. We've transitioned from inefficient and unreliable architectures based on the STP family of protocols or vendor-specific solutions, moving fully towards the current standard developed by the IETF working groups - EVPN/VxLAN.

EVPN, primarily based on VxLAN encapsulation for transport and the mature BGP protocol for control, has been a game-changer. The re-embrace of the non-blocking Clos topology (IP Clos) has brought about an efficient and scalable (especially for East-West traffic) structure built on SPINE & LEAF switches. With EVPN in the underlay network, based on L3 routing and ECMP mechanisms, the limitations of the STP family protocols, which often led to port blockages and inefficient traffic distribution, have been overcome. This transition has harnessed the full potential of our Ethernet capabilities. EVPN facilitates the exchange of L2 and L3 information, such as MAC or MAC/IP addresses, utilizing the flexibility and expansiveness of the BGP protocol. It employs IP routing and IGP protocols (ospf, isis, or preferably BGP) to construct an underlay network. This serves as an efficient foundation for the overlay network where L2/L3 information is exchanged. Through VxLAN encapsulation, L2 (VLAN) information is encapsulated with an appropriate header and is conveyed as an IP UDP packet across our network.

Today, there are many vendors who have fully embraced these industry standards, resulting in high compatibility between the major players in the DC network segment.

This emphasis on optimization, performance, code quality, and superior management software provides a competitive edge. Especially in a world where a single chipset provider, Broadcom, dominates over 90% of the market. This has brought real benefits for customers, delivering a finely-tuned end product.

Apius Technologies offers comprehensive support throughout the process of adopting or designing new LAN/DC networks, relying on solutions from the leading market players in this segment. With years of experience and successful implementations for top financial sector clients and research entities, we're confident in our ability to meet any challenge; no network issue is insurmountable for us.
